300 DPI is the standard for photo prints up to 16x20 inches. For larger prints viewed from distance (posters, banners), 150-200 DPI is acceptable.
AI upscaling works well for 2-4x enlargement. Beyond that, quality depends on source. A 1000px image can reasonably become a 4000px (8x10 at 300 DPI) print.
Insufficient resolution. Check if your source image has enough pixels for the print size at 300 DPI. Use the chart above to verify.
Divide pixel dimensions by 300 for max size at full quality. A 3000x2000px image prints at 10x6.7 inches at 300 DPI, or 20x13.3 inches at 150 DPI.
