Calculating Required Pixels

Here's the formula you need:

Required Pixels = Print Size (inches) × DPI

Example: 8×10 inch print at 300 DPI
Width: 8 × 300 = 2400 pixels
Height: 10 × 300 = 3000 pixels

Preparing Files for Print

Step 1: Check Your Current Resolution

In most image editors:

  • Photoshop: Image → Image Size
  • GIMP: Image → Scale Image
  • Preview (Mac): Tools → Adjust Size

Note both pixel dimensions and current DPI setting.
